Episode 2059: Almera Encounter
You wait in the lobby of the business hotel Almera. Its a comfortable place to wait yet cold. Everything about it was business like. Tall windows with hues of grey and black. You had forgotten how much coffee you had before coming here. You needed all the sobriety to deal with this important contract. Plus, you needed to make Alex proud.From the lift lobby came the ever so formal Ms.Anderson. Walking on brown leather ankle high boots, she was in a grey suit and trousers today. A white blouse underneath. She must be at least forty but she always seemed full of corporate drive. She came to where you waited and offered her hand.
'Glad you could come' she said rather coldly.
'I brought everything for this'
You showed your project folder. She eyed for a moment and nodded.
'We need to discuss this in a more conducive environment'
She said matter of factly. She motioned you to follow her and headed for the elevator. You could never say she was into much of chit-chat. You entered after her and she pressed for the 15th floor.
'I like to stay here whenever I get to this side of the country' she said
You knew she flies quite often; taking care of business on her own.
'I had spoken to my colleagues this morning with regards to your proposal'
She said once both of you stepped out. You waited anxiously on her every word. It was a few steps before she took out her access card and opened the door.
'I put across my doubt'
Doubt is not a good word. Not good.
It was a junior suite with a living room and an adjoining bedroom to the left. The window had a view of the orange hues of autumn leaves of the Northern Park.
'We can iron out any problems you might have with our plans'
You say trying to make desperate concessions. She motions you to sit on the sofa while she removed her coat and had it hung in a closet. She took two glasses from a cabinet and a bottle of red whine.
'I expect that you could clarify on a few key issues'
She said coldly as she poured whine for the both of you. She then handed you a glass.
'Your company has not taken such endeavours before have you not?'
She looks at you squarely in the eye searching for answers as she sips on her whine. You could hear yourself gulping. This was something you were unprepared for.
She gets closer to you enforcing the seriousness of the matter.
'You see, my doubt lies with your...err... performance'
Her tone was much softer yet the words were heavy. She puts her one hand on your knee, while taking another sip of wine.
'This is a.serious long term contact we are dealing with' again that softening tone just made you more confused.
'I need to know that you are committed'
